NANO-CATHEDRAL VITORIA LOCAL WORKSHOP
25th - 26th January 2018 | Santa María de la Asunción | Vitoria-Gasteiz (Spain)
After Oslo, Vienna and Ghent, Vitoria-Gasteiz will be the fourth city to host the Nano-Cathedral local workshop.
The Conference will take a marked technical character but it will be open to the entire society. It will be held in the Palace Europa and at the Cathedral on site. A visit will be held to the laboratory of materials of the provincial Council and to the Cathedral Santa Maria to see the investigations and results on-site.
The Workshop may include three main contents:
– Firstly, a theoretical presentation of the problems of stone decaying, how to recognize and describe them according to international standards, including a practice on the real stones of Santa María Cathedral, under the guide of the technical office of the Fundacion Catedral Santa María and with the aid of the NANO-CATHEDRAL team.
– Secondly, the results of NANO-CATHEDRAL project may be presented to the assistants, going then to make some essays of application of the products -if possible- on a part of the Cathedral or in a sample of stone masonry wall constructed ad hoc as an essay bank.
– Lastly, we may present a complete plan for the whole restoration of the stone facades of the Cathedral, as it will be developed in parallel with the NANO-CATHEDRAL project and will incorporate the results of this last one.
